Chuck Stinnett, business editor and columnist at the Henderson Gleaner in Kentucky, is leaving the paper after more than 35 years.
Stinnett writes, “I didn’t expect to be writing this, at least for a while — say, in about 2022. But circumstances change.
“After more than 35 years, I am leaving The Gleaner. As we prepare to get our third corporate owner in less than a year, some of us were given opportunities for early severance. I was one of six at The Gleaner whose applications were accepted.
“It wasn’t something I took lightly. I’ve worked here for practically my entire adult life. Because of The Gleaner, Henderson became our adopted hometown and many of you became our friends.
“It wasn’t always easy. In the early years, there were a lot of late nights. There were a lot of winter days when it wasn’t easy to get to work. Newspapers don’t take snow days; during the ice storm of 2009, Donna and I didn’t miss a single day of work.”
