InvestmentNews publisher Bisson insisted on one thing: Stories needed to be accurate

Keith Girard of RIABiz.com remembers retired InvestmentNews publisher Bill Bisson, who died last month at the age of 70.

Girard writes, “He only insisted on one thing — the story had to be accurate.

“His publishing philosophy was unheard of at a time when financial service journalism rarely rocked the boat.  Bill always put readers first and let the chips fall where they may.

“He knew, in the long run, that a publication’s success hinged on earning the readers’ trust. In the insular world of business-to-business journalism, His editorial and publishing philosophy is a rare commodity, even today.

“‘He was a great news buff. He loved news,’ Clowes says. ‘He read the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and the Financial Times every day.'”
