Indianapolis paper decides against cutting biz section

The Indianapolis Star, which last month said it would cut its standalone business section, has reversed course, according to a story on the Indianapolis Business Journal’s web site.

Indianpolis StarThe story stated, “‘We’re always looking to improve the product, and don’t want to take anything away,’ said Star Executive Editor Dennis Ryerson. ‘The reality is, we just couldn’t figure out a way to make it work out any better than it was before.’

Star officials had proposed rotating business and Metro&State columnists on the section cover, and interspersing some of the top stories from each section on the cover, while maintaining a dedicated business section within.

“But in the end, Ryerson said, Star officials couldn’t figure out a good way to integrate the two sections.

“‘We looked at all of our options, and we didn’t like our options,’ Ryerson said. ‘Going forward, the readers shouldn’t notice any difference.'”
