David V. Lyons has been hired by The (Fort Lauderdale) Sun Sentinel as its business editor.
He replaces Randy Roguski, who was named metro editor of the paper in September.
For the past two years, Lyons ran his own strategic communications firm.
From 2001 to 2014, he was editor in chief of the Daily Business Review, where he reorganized staff to a digital focus, prioritizing newsletters, video and social media.
Before his tenure at the Review, Lyons spent 15 years covering business and metro news for the Miami Herald, covering the airline and cruise industries, criminal and civil courts, and a wide range of business topics.
He has also been a business writer for the Miami News and Fort Lauderdale News.
Lyons is a graduate of Siena College.
