Fortune magazine has hired a deputy editor and three other new staffers as it expands its editorial employee base under its new ownership.

Brian O’Keefe is returning to Fortune as deputy editor after a stint as IBM’s editor-in-chief of its Institute for Business Value. Brian was previously a Fortune staffer for 18 years. He will reclaim his feature-editing pencil and help manage the edit staff and story assignments.

Jeremy Kahn joins Fortune in our newly expanded London bureau as a senior writer covering technology. Jeremy has spent the past three years reporting on tech for Bloomberg News.

Prior to that, he covered finance and economics for Bloomberg Markets, served as managing editor of The New Republic, and wrote for a number of publications, including Fortune.

Lee Clifford has joined Fortune as senior editor for finance. Clifford, who was twice named to TJFR’s prestigious “30 Under 30” list, returns to Fortune after leaving in 2010 to cofound Altruette, a socially conscious business that sold charm bracelets, using the proceeds to benefit 40 charities.

David Z. Morris joins Fortune’s tech team as a writer covering news on everything from autonomous vehicles to AI to data privacy. He has been a freelance contributor to Fortune.com since 2013.

Most recently, he was a staff writer for BreakerMag, an outlet devoted to cryptocurrency and blockchain tech.

“Over the decades, many of the most talented reporters, writers, and editors have called Fortune home,” said editor-in-chief Clifton Leaf in a statement. “And we’re proud that some of the best and brightest of these have gone on to hold senior roles at other business titles and done other important things with their lives. But it’s particularly satisfying when those writers and editors return to Fortune — as Brian, Lee, and Jeremy have — after having impressive careers and achievements in between. It says a lot about the kind of place Fortune is and about our deep commitment to both journalists and journalism itself.”

Fortune has also promoted Kristen Bellstrom to features editor, and Matt Heimer to senior features editor.
