Forbes announced Monday it is expanding its CMO Network, hiring Marty Swant from Adweek to cover marketing, advertising and technology.

The announcement was made by CMO Network editor Jenny Rooney, who also unveiled a new event, “CMO Next,” to coincide with the release of Forbes’ second-annual CMO Next list later this fall.

Swant, who has experience covering technology, marketing and media and the intersection of Silicon Valley and Washington, D.C., will cover breaking news and offer in-depth analysis about marketers, agencies, media platforms, brand strategies and adtech and martech companies.

He also will help produce Forbes’ CMO lists and events and contribute to the CMO Network’s newsletter, video-interview series, university events and other platforms, Rooney said.

“We welcome Marty to our expansive CMO Network, which engages the world’s most influential chief marketers who lead increasingly complex initiatives for their companies – from digital transformation to revenue diversification, customer engagement, culture and more,” Rooney said.

The announcement comes less than a month after Forbes announced the hiring of 10 journalists worldwide.

In addition to announcing Swant’s hiring, Rooney also introduced a new event, CMO Next, which will take place Sept. 25 in New York and coincide with the release of the second-annual CMO Next list. CMO Next honors up-and-coming marketers and other executives, including chief brand officers, chief growth officers and chief commercial officers.
