Eric EffronEric Effron, most recently the company news editor for the Americas at Reuters, has left the news organization.

In an email to his colleagues, Effron wrote:

It’s been a privilege to work with so many talented and committed journalists on the Legal and Companies teams, and beyond, and I have no doubt many of the professional and personal connections I’ve developed here will endure. I’m looking forward to the next chapter.

Starting in January, I’ll be doing some editorial consulting and project management for a range of media companies, including documentary producer PerlePress Productions; Infobase Publishing, a multimedia reference company; and a startup that will report on voter fraud and efforts to restrict voting in the United States. I’m also exploring some interesting opportunities inside and outside Thomson Reuters.

Effron was named company news editor in 2014. Before that, he launched the company’s first legal news stream, building a team of journalists to serve legal clients along with financial and media clients.

Before joining Reuters, Effron served as managing editor and then executive editor of The Week magazine, overseeing business, political and cultural coverage for the acclaimed newsweekly. Before that, he was editor of Brill’s Content, a magazine about the media business.

Earlier in his career, Effron served as editor and publisher of Legal Times, an award-winning publication that covered law and lobbying in Washington, D.C. He also served as Washington editor and publisher of Counsel Connect, an online information and networking site for lawyers, and was a contributing editor at Court TV.
