Eva Llorens-Velez, a journalist and licensed attorney, will be joining Debtwire as a senior reporter.
Llorens-Velez will be based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and primarily reporting about the debt restructuring of the territory that has been a significant issue since 2017.
Debtwire reports on data/news revolving around international debt markets and is a subsidiary of Acuris, a worldwide media company focusing on financial news.
Llorens-Velez has more than 30 years of experience and has covered a wide range of topics ranging from science and music to public affairs and business. She previously worked for Associated Press, Florida Newspaper Network, the San Juan Star, the Puerto Rico Daily Sun, Noticel and Caribbean Business.
She is also a part-time professor in the Graphic Design Department at the University of Puerto Rico in Carolina. Llorens-Velez has a Master’s Degree in Communications from the University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor from InterAmerican University School of Law.
