Tristan Navera, a senior reporter at the Dayton Business Journal, is moving to its sister paper in Ohio, Columbus Business First.

Navera will be the Columbus paper’s commercial real estate and development reporter starting Tuesday. At Dayton, he covered workforce development, economic development, and technology.

Navera writes, “Today is my last day at the Dayton Business Journal. I won’t be going far — taking on a new role at our company’s sister paper, Columbus Business First. But four and a half years here — 5,430 articles, actually — have given me the unique opportunity to meet and talk to thousands of Daytonians of all jobs, backgrounds and walks of life.

“I didn’t come to love Dayton in the way the ‘average’ person does. I wasn’t born here (Cincinnati), or go to college here (Athens) or start my career here (Columbus). But I’ll echo Carol Clark’s sentiment— as a non-native, I’ve never felt so welcomed.

“There’s a common thread among the people of Dayton — A great majority of the Daytonians I’ve met are bound by the common desire to play a part in making the city a better place.”
