Jill Kaplan, the publisher of Crain’s New York Business, has resigned to become president of the New York/New Jersey market for United Airlines.
Matthew Flamm of Crain’s New York writes, “Before she came to Crain’s in 2006, Kaplan was general manager of The Wall Street Journal. In addition to hosting the Crain’s New York Stories television series, she launched a custom-content division at the publication and led the growth of its events business.
“‘Having called New York home for the past 25 years, I can’t think of a more exciting position to hold at United as the airline continues to achieve new milestones with its operations, destinations and customer experiences in the metropolitan area,’ Kaplan said. ‘I look forward to strengthening our commitment to the local communities we serve to help support continued economic vitality, employing tens of thousands in the region.’
“KC Crain, president and chief operating officer of parent company Crain Communications, said: ‘During her 11 years at Crain Communications, Jill Kaplan’s thoughtful leadership has been invaluable in growing Crain’s New York Business. While Jill will be sorely missed, we are very happy for her in this exciting new endeavor with United Airlines.'”
