Danny Ecker, who tackles the sports business beat at Crain’s Chicago Business, is moving to the commercial real estate beat for the paper.
Ecker has also covered Chicago’s massive convention and tourism industry, including the operations of McCormick Place, Choose Chicago and Navy Pier.
As a result, Ecker is shutting the On Sports blog. He writes:
It has been a privilege to write about the marketing, media, products and personalities tied to the area’s professional and college teams. And I don’t plan on stopping entirely. I’ll continue to share news and perspective on the local sports business scene on Twitter, so be sure to follow me there. (I’ll also have a post or two in the near future as I tie up some loose ends.) Thank you for reading during what has been an eventful half-decade on the Chicago sports business scene.
He joined Crain’s in 2010 and previously worked as a producer for UWire.com, a college sports and news website.
He is a 2008 graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
