Consumer Reports has hired longtime personal finance journalist Penelope Wang as deputy editor of special projects.

She joined the money content development team on April 3. Wang will write and assign and edit investigative content for Consumer Reports magazine and Consumer Reports Online.

“She has deep expertise in the areas of elder care, retirement and investing, as well as many other subject categories,” said Margot Gilman, money content development team leader at Consumer Reports, in an email to Talking Biz News.

Wang has been at Money magazine since 1989, first as a senior writer and for the last seven years as an editor at large.

She wrote mainly for the retirement and investing sections. Between 2014 and 2016, Wang worked as online retirement section chief, assigned and edited stories, recruited contributors, and wrote columns. In February 2015, she launched a weekly retirement newsletter, which now has more than 30,000 subscribers.

Wang previously worked at Forbes and as a business writer at Newsweek magazine.
