Anthony Galloway, global head of video and audio at The Wall Street Journal, sent out the following announcement on Friday:

Colleagues,

I’m very excited to announce that Jarrard Cole has been elevated to deputy head of audio for the Wall Street Journal and executive producer of The Journal podcast.

The forthcoming addition of our new daily podcast in partnership with Gimlet is the capstone on a year of strong audience growth across WSJ’s portfolio of podcasts. As we launch this new show and continue to expand our ambitions in audio, Jarrard is the perfect combination of journalist, creative and producer to lead this important journalistic initiative.

Many of you have already had the opportunity to work with Jarrard as he’s been a leader on the video team over the past eight years. He started at the Journal in 2010 and is responsible for shaping many of our most prominent video projects, including the video team’s recent contribution to the Pulitzer Prize-winning series on Trump’s hush-money payments. In this new role, Jarrard will be the executive in charge of the forthcoming Journal podcast and take on broader oversight of the Journal’s existing podcasts after the new daily show launches. He will be supported by a new executive producer of audio, to be named in the coming weeks, who will work closely with supervising producer Tanya Bustos and the strong audio team already in place producing our current podcasts.

The Journal podcast will launch in beta on Thursday, June 27, growing from two days a week to five days a week over the course of the summer. I’m grateful to Andrew Sussman for helping establish the foundation of this new podcast and look forward to showcasing the work Jarrard, Kate and Ryan are doing with our partners at Gimlet. Gimlet’s expertise making highly-produced audio programs, combined with the Journal’s unparalleled reporting, is already showing promise in our early test episodes.

Please join me in congratulating Jarrard on this new role.
