Patrick Gillespie, a reporter at CNNMoney on the markets and economy team, has been hired by Bloomberg News to work in its Buenos Aires bureau in Argentina.
He starts in early May.
Gillespie has worked for CNNMoney since September 2014. He has led its Latin America coverage since 2015, and reported from Caracas, Venezuela, on the country’s crises and government, as well as produced an interview with Argentina’s President Mauricio Macri in Buenos Aires.
He led CNN’s digital coverage on a two-week trip to Mexico City early in President Trump’s tenure and interviewed Mexico Economic Secretary Ildefonso Guajardo on the fate of NAFTA.
He is a graduate of the University of Delaware, where he was a varsity baseball player, and CUNY’s Graduate School of Journalism.
Before joining CNNMoney, Gillespie did stints at McClatchy’s Washington bureau, Mashable, The Connecticut Post and The Philadelphia Inquirer. He worked for a tour company and taught English in Buenos Aires for a year after college.
Personal news: Today is my last day @CNNMoney. I’m grateful for all the opportunities and friendships I’ve had here. Readers, thank you for your time, interest and responses.
I’m very excited to be joining @business in Buenos Aires!
