CNET launched “Tech Today,” a stand alone application that brings consumers a compilation of the 10 most important tech stories of the day, on Thursday.
Many publisher apps are being created with multi-faceted uses to prompt the reader in a number of directions, CNET is embarking on a simple and non-invasive approach with “Tech Today.”
“Tech Today” is designed to give consumers an easy, fast and free way to access a daily and small dose of tech news during their morning commute, coffee break or before bed. The design provides for a quick and focused skim of the news without over crowding the screen with headlines and endless options. Users are prompted to swipe and scan and are also able to view a web version of articles directly on CNET.
“Our new ‘Tech Today’ app was designed for all of us who are busy, but who want to catch up with what’s going on every day in a quick, easy way,” said Connie Guglielmo, editor in chief of CNET News, in a statement. “We give you the highlights of what’s happening in tech news in a simple, elegant format that’s intended to be a fast scan. It’s a complement to our website, where you can then find all the in-depth tech coverage our team delivers.”
