Jay Yarow, senior vice president and executive editor of CNBC Digital, sent out the following announcement on Friday afternoon:
Congratulations to everyone on an excellent May.
It was our best month ever, according to the daily Omniture report. Traffic was up 52% compared to last year.
In addition to our success on CNBC.com, we had a big month on Apple News. In a very short time frame, we’ve built a substantial audience on the platform and it’s only going to get bigger from here.
Make It had yet another record month and our technology section, which had its fifth straight month of record traffic, was the biggest section on the site. It’s thrilling to see our investment in these areas paying off.
We’re just getting started. We have big plans to invest in all areas of interest to our audience.
The reason we are seeing new highs across the board is because we are telling great stories. In a noisy landscape, we win because we are fast, accurate, actionable, and unbiased. That’s all there is to it. People often wonder how you succeed in digital. It’s not complicated. You just have to tell great stories.
Now, just because something is simple doesn’t mean it’s easy. It’s hard. And your hard work is making this happen.
From stories about tech companies trying to solve health care to stories about the markets to explanations of how Trump’s policies impact voters and investors to stories about how to get ahead in your career to fun new takes on how to save money to dozens of other subjects, we are beginning to offer something really special to our viewers and readers.
It’s truly an exciting time to be working in digital at CNBC and I’m honored to be a part of this team. I hope you are as excited as I am to be here.
Thank you for an awesome May.
