CBC announced that “The Cost of Living,” a new national business show hosted by Paul Haavardsrud, will debut in September.

Produced out of CBC in Calgary, the weekly 30-minute show will cover business and economics stories and demonstrate how they intersect with the lives of Canadians.

“It’s easy to remember when business was confined to a section of the newspaper or a segment on the evening news, but that time is gone,” said Haavardsrud in a statement. “Listeners have a new appetite for stories that dig into how economics, business and the world of money affects each of them. It feels like the timing and opportunity for us to bring this show to Canadians couldn’t be better and we can’t wait for September to get here, so we can all share those stories together.”

Topics will range anywhere from the ways cities are adapting for Uber and the effects of trade on grocery store pricing, to music streaming royalties, Bitcoin, open concept offices, and beyond.

Since 2010, Haavardsrud has been heard on CBC Radio One as a business reporter for current affair shows across the country.

Before then, his work could be found in the Financial Post, Dow Jones, and the Calgary Herald.
