Sean F. Driscoll has been named the new business reporter for the Cape Cod Times in Massachusetts.
A story on its website states, “Since joining the newspaper in June 2013, Driscoll has covered the towns of Falmouth and Mashpee, including the Woods Hole science community. He has also covered public records issues, been a newsroom leader in data journalism and digital journalism innovation and explored new tools for digital storytelling. In 2014, he launched a nonprofit index using publicly available tax returns to track 2,000 financial data points for Cape Cod’s 50 largest nonprofits.
“As business reporter, he plans to incorporate nonprofit coverage into his reporting, as well as focusing on energy and transportation issues along with the daily business buzz on the Cape.
“‘Cape and Islands business news is so important to our region, and I’m thrilled Sean will be bringing his business reporting experience to this crucial role,’ Managing Editor Linda Corcoran said. ‘Our local business coverage will benefit from Sean’s knowledge and expertise.’
“Driscoll has covered a range of topics in his career, including police, courts, municipal government, public pensions, employment and labor issues. He was a 2016 Kiplinger Fellow at Ohio State University, where he received hands-on training in social media, data journalism, smartphone video and other digital tools.”
