Business Insider executive editor Matt Turner sent out the following announcement on Wednesday:

Hello everyone.

A couple of months ago, Nich set out an ambitious vision for Business Insider. As a reminder, here’s the mission statement:

“Business Insider’s mission is to inform and inspire. It’s focus is great reporting from inside companies across tech, finance, retail and the all industries that matter to the leaders of today and tomorrow. It also tells the story of success. How to succeed in life, in work, and what to buy and experience with the financial rewards.”

Today, I’m excited to announce some changes to the BI newsroom that we believe will help take us a step closer to making that vision a reality.

These changes are in keeping with what we’ve always done at BI: identifying areas of coverage our readers love, and then giving our talented reporters and editors the opportunity to build something special.

We’re promoting Cadie Thompson to Deputy Executive Editor. As an editor, Cadie has shepherded some of our most impactful reporting, and we’re excited to give her an expanded role.

We are also going to combine the tech and transportation teams. Cadie will lead the NYC tech and transportation team, working with Jake Kanter in the UK, Steven Tweedie in NYC, and global tech editor Alexei Oreskovic in SF to help ensure we have the best tech and transportation coverage around. She will also continue to oversee our retail coverage.

On tech, we are promoting Avery Hartmans to associate editor. And we’re asking Matt Weinberger to build an enterprise technology team. Rosalie Chan joined that team just last week, and we’re looking forward to adding more reporters.

We’re also promoting Becky Peterson, one of our star tech reporters, to cover tech deals, focusing on big transactions in tech and the people behind them.

Graham Rapier will join the transportation team to cover urban mobility. And on retail, Aine Cain is going to cover some of the industry’s biggest names.

We’re also planning to invest in our coverage of media, telecoms, and advertising. While we’re working hard to find a senior editor to replace Mike Shields, the advertising team is in good hands. We’re appointing Nathan McAlone as media editor, working with Jason Guerrasio and Travis Clark. He will also be working with Lauren Johnson, Tanya Dua, and Abby Jackson in the interim. I’ll work with Nathan closely as we build that team out further.

Carrie Wittmer meanwhile will join the Insider team.

Similarly, we have big ambitions for our healthcare coverage, and have hired Zach Tracer to help build a team covering the business of healthcare. Erin Brodwin in SF will join that team, and work with Zach, founding member Lydia Ramsey, and our intern Charlotte Hu.

The Science team will move to INSIDER, as will Sports, joining Politics, Mildef, and News at the new Insider.

On Markets, we’ve seen the potential of fantastic investing coverage, and with that in mind have decided to launch a team dedicated to it. We’re very happy to appoint Joe Ciolli to launch our investing team, working with Akin Oyedele. I’ll work closely with Joe to build that team.

Markets Insider is the fastest growing markets site in the US. We’re asking Jon Garber to take charge of that site and supercharge it, as we continue to grow the team, improve the site, and build our audience.

And on strategy, we’re pleased to promote Rich Feloni to correspondent.

Here’s an org chart to help make sense of the changes.

While that’s all I have to announce today, we’re far from done.

We continue to hire to just about every team across the newsroom. The senior team is working hard to hire the most talented reporters and editors to work with you all.

We have a huge opportunity in front of us to become not just the best read business publication in the world, but the best loved. That means more flooding the zone, more in depth reporting, and more informing and inspiring.

Let’s get to work.
