Michael Brown has been promoted to co-editor of The Deal, a publication that covers mergers and acquisitions for TheStreet.com.

He will report to TheStreet executive editor Brian Sozzi.

TheStreet chief executive officer David Callaway wrote in an announcement:

I’m also happy to announce that Michael Brown will be promoted to co-editor of The Deal with Ron Fink, as of Jan 1, to help us throw greater focus on The Deal next year as we’ve discussed, reporting to Brian.

Brian and Mike are proven newsroom leaders and dynamic editors who we’ll be counting on to create robust coverage of all our beats and new products to drive revenue and subscriptions.

Brown has been the assignments editor for TheStreet.com, parent company of The Deal, RateWatch and BoardEx, overseeing the day-to-day coverage of the stock market and business news. He oversees the operation of the newsroom, managing reporters and editors for both TheStreet and The Deal.

Prior to his role as assignments editor, Brown was an associate editor for The Deal where he oversaw daily auction and middle market coverage for TheDeal.com. He also managed The Deal’s auctions database, which tracks over 1,500 ongoing sale processes and was essential in creating the M&A Tipsheet, a weekly newsletter of The Deal’s exclusive coverage of ongoing M&A processes.
