Bloomberg Media exec leaving for New Republic

Gabriel SnyderGabriel Snyder, who was hired by Bloomberg Media in March to boost its digital efforts, has resigned to become editor of The New Republic, according to media reports.

Snyder is a former editor in chief of The Wire, a website owned by Atlantic Media, and was chief content officer of  Inside.com, a mobile news start-up founded by the web entrepreneur Jason Calacanis.

He previously edited Gawker and the website of Newsweek.

Snyder was also a senior writer for Variety and W Magazine, and he worked for US Weekly and The New York Observer. He is a Yale University graduate.
