Bloomberg hires Joachim from NY Times

David JoachimDavid Joachim, assistant Washington editor for the New York Times, has been hired by Bloomberg News to be one of its financial crimes editors.

“It’s the opportunity of a lifetime to get to work with some of the best editors and reporters in business journalism,” said Joachim in an email to Talking Biz News. “I’m also excited to return to New York, which is home.”

Joachim has been focusing on national security coverage at the Times. He also teaches business reporting at George Washington University.

He has held several reporting and editing positions at The Times, including breaking news writerweekend Washington editor, weekend business editor, banking editor and copy editor. While at the Times, he was part of the team that produced the 2008 series “The Reckoning,” about the causes of the financial crisis, which won a Gerald Loeb Award and was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize.

Joachim, who has a degree from Stony Brook University, also was senior managing editor at Internet Week and wrote a weekly technology column for Long Island Business News during his career.
