A new business newspaper called Region’s Business published its first issue in Philadelphia earlier this week.
Peter Van Allen of the Philadelphia Business Journal writes, “Region’s Business, a weekly newspaper, was launched this week by publisher and majority owner James McDonald, a former sales director with the Metro publication who has led other news startups.
“The publication’s 40-page first issue featured a cover story ‘Visions of a world-class Philadelphia,’ and also included news stories, political columns, op-ed pieces and advertising from car dealerships, real estate developers and casino interests.
“McDonald said the fragmentation of the region’s media market created an opening for such a publication.
“‘I have a singular belief that if you can get readers, you can get advertisers,’ he said.
“Naming it ‘Region’s Business’ was part of a larger plan to start similar publications in other markets, McDonald said.”
