Janice Bitters, a reporter at the Silicon Valley Business Journal, is leaving the American City Business Journals paper for a job at the San Jose Spotlight.

Bitters has been at the Business Journal for the past 2.5 years. She primarily covers commercial real estate. Other topics she follows include residential real estate and economic development.

At the Spotlight, a nonprofit news organization, Bitters will cover Santa Clara city government and real estate for both Santa Clara and San Jose. She will start in June and be a senior reporter.

“This move is bittersweet,” wrote Bitters on Twitter. “I’ve loved working with such talented journalists and editors at the Business Journal for the past 2.5 years. But I’m also so excited for the work I’ll be doing at San Jose Spotlight, and to collaborate with the talented team there.”

She previously worked at Finance & Commerce in Minneapolis covering regional planning and transit.

Bitters holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota.
