Greg Barr, the managing editor of the Austin Business Journal, has been named as editor of the Phoenix Business Journal.
He replaces Ilana Lowery, who is leaving American City Business Journals.
A story on the Austin paper’s website states, “Barr, who is currently managing editor at the Austin Business Journal and was previously managing editor at the Houston Business Journal, will join the Phoenix team in its top newsroom post on July 5. Both papers are owned by Charlotte, N.C.-based American City Business Journals.
“Austin Business Journal Editor-In-Chief Colin Pope has begun the search for his replacement. Barr’s last day on the job in Austin will be June 25.
“‘I’m very excited for this opportunity to lead the newsroom in Phoenix, and at the same time I will miss my colleagues at ABJ as well as all of the people I’ve come to know in Austin’s dynamic business community. It’s been amazing to see so many changes — especially the ever-evolving view out of my downtown office window — in my nearly five years working in the state’s most unique and dynamic city,’ Barr said.”
