Micheline Maynard, former auto industry reporter for USA Today and the New York Times, has been hired by NPR and WBUR’s “Here & Now” as a senior editor.
She will start in January. On LinkedIn, Maynard wrote, “I’ll be a senior editor, based in Boston. It’s exciting to return to public media, working with a terrific team.”
For the past few years, Maynard has been editor of the Curbing Cars project and a contributor on Forbes.com. She also spent a year as the director of the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism at Arizona State University and as a visiting professor at the Cronkite School of Journalism.
Maynard worked at the Times from 2004 to 2010, including a stint as its Detroit bureau chief. She was also Detroit bureau chief of USA Today from 1990 to 1999.
Maynard has degrees from Michigan State University. She was also a Bagehot Fellow and holds a certificate in business and economics journalism from Columbia University.
