Associated Press business editor Brad Foss sent out the following announcement on Friday:
Colleagues:
It is with considerable regret that I must announce that Scott Mayerowitz will be leaving AP to take another job.
Since becoming deputy business editor for storytelling in March of this year, Scott has guided the department’s efforts to create more visually- and digitally-compelling stories, built on a foundation of strong reporting. And, really, since he joined AP in 2011 as a reporter covering airlines, Scott has enthusiastically helped us create a more impactful, innovative and interesting Business News report.
Scott partnered with so many people across the newsroom and he has always been guided by an interest in sharing what he knew and learning from others.
We will miss him as a colleague, but he remains a friend to many of us. And I’m sure he’ll never quit sharing travel tips with any of us.
It is fitting that his next job will be as executive news director for The Points Guy media brand.
Scott’s last day at the AP will be Jan. 11, and we will find some time to celebrate him appropriately before then.
Please join me in thanking Scott for his many contributions and wishing him success in his next endeavor.
-Brad
