Lauren Silva Laughlin, U.S. editor of Reuters Breakingviews, sent out the following on Tuesday:

I’m thrilled to announce the hiring of Gabe Rubin, who will be taking the role as Washington columnist starting on May 13. Gabe hails from the Wall Street Journal, where he worked for 8 years, covering financial regulation, politics, and economics. During the last election cycle, he revived the paper’s “Washington Wire” column, and he won an award for work he’s done on student loans.

Gabe graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, MO with a double major in History and Spanish. He likes to hike, plays the trumpet, and once changed a tire in the middle of the Atacama Desert. And if that doesn’t give him enough grit to be ready for the bruising battle ahead in the Beltway, he’s also a Chicago Cubs (ehem, baseball) fan.

Please join me in welcoming Gabe to the US team!

Lauren
