Yahoo Finance seeks evening editor

Yahoo Finance is looking for an editor to manage the site during off-peak hours from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET.

The editor will be responsible for identifying news, updating a homepage, using social media to distribute stories, and dispatching mobile push notifications. The candidate should also have experience working with reporters and editing drafts. The ideal candidate will also have ideas for building the audience and improving user engagement. The editor could work from the NYC headquarters and/or from home. The editor does not have to be work from NYC.

Responsibilities:

-Identify news stories and package stories for a homepage

-Craft headlines and captions for our various distribution platforms including Facebook and Twitter

-Edit drafts and make corrections to live stories-be available to assist multiple reporters during off-peak hours

Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience working on a website serving finance news

-Deep knowledge of financial markets, economics, and general business matters

-Impeccable news judgement with the ability to determine newsworthiness quickly

-Superior communication skills, with experience translate complex financial topics into tight “english”

-Experience with social media, particularly Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
