WSJ/Dow Jones seeks news editor in New York

New WSJ websiteThe hub desk at The Wall Street Journal seeks a strong, experienced editor to be a senior digital news leader.

This person will work with bureaus and news desks around the world to drive digital news, pushing stories forward and marshaling our newsroom to build compelling digital packages of sidebars, blog posts, video and visuals. Strong news judgment is imperative as the editor will help determine play on the homepage, send breaking news alerts and shape a digital presentation that is insightful, intelligent and engaging.

The editor will work closely with colleagues in social media, audience development, visuals and video to generate content that resonates with readers across our digital platforms. He or she will be a driver of digital best practices across the newsroom, evangelizing and leading by example. The editor will have the opportunity to help us re-imagine how we deliver and present news digitally, as we continue to transform our digital storytelling.

Prior digital experience isn’t necessary; we welcome candidates with strong news backgrounds who are eager to learn new digital skills. We’re looking for someone who is collaborative, steady-headed, enterprising, good-humored and capable of making smart quick decisions under pressure.
