WSJ seeks reporter in Washington

March 24, 2015

The Washington bureau is seeking a staff reporter to join its national security group and become part of the country’s premier team covering defense, intelligence and foreign policy.

Specifically, we need a Pentagon reporter who knows and understands the Pentagon down to its nooks, crannies and rings, and can clearly explain what’s happening now and what will happen next in America’s military conflicts, its counterterrorism campaigns, its multinational training missions, its air and naval deployments, and its dealings with Congress and the White House.

The ideal candidate will have sources among civilian officials and senior military commanders, as well as within the armed services and in combatant commands around the globe.

As a writer, he or she must be able to produce 300-word newsbreaks, 1,000-word exclusives, and 2,000-word take-outs, along with helping produce video and appearing in webcasts.

Teamwork, a key to our success, is highly prized.
