The Wall Street Journal is searching for an experienced reporter to cover the consumer products industry, a global business that touches nearly every person’s life every day.

The beat ranges from giants like Procter & Gamble and Estee Lauder to upstarts like Birchbox and Dollar Shave Club. This isn’t just a beat covering companies or products; the ideal candidate will explore the ripples of global trade and unpack consumer behaviors.

This is a beat that requires a reporter who can generate original story ideas, dig for enterprising features and break news on closely watched companies. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience covering a business or finance beat.

This position is based in New York.

Online applications should include a cover letter, resume and up to five published clips.
