The Wall Street Journal’s technology team in San Francisco is looking for an experienced, energetic reporter to cover big data and artificial intelligence.
The job entails writing about this fast-moving subject as both a phenomenon and an emerging industry, delivering stories that explain how major developments are affecting the real-life experiences and behaviors of businesses and individuals–and the consequences in areas like privacy.
The person also will dig into the key players in this field, many of them relatively new companies, and try to identify which are on a path to long-term success and which are more flash than substance.
Candidates for this job must be self-starters and be skilled at conceptualizing stories, able to look across a broad landscape and identify news and trends that will be compelling for the average Journal reader, not just the technorati.
They also must be strong collaborators who can work well with colleagues covering the broad range of industries and companies affected by new data tools.
