Washington and Lee University’s Department of Journalism and Mass Communications seeks an experienced journalist to hold the Donald W. Reynolds Chair in Business Journalism, beginning in the fall of 2016.

The Chair is responsible for one of our signature programs, a business journalism sequence that provides specialized education in journalism with an emphasis on business. The business journalism program combines two of Washington and Lee’s historic strengths—its accredited journalism department and its Williams School of Commerce, Economics and Politics. Duties include teaching courses on reporting on business and the economy and overseeing an internship program. The Chair is an endowed position at the rank of professor. Candidates should have extensive business journalism experience and a graduate degree; an earned doctorate is preferred but not required. Experience in media management and teaching are also preferred.

Washington and Lee is an equal opportunity employer. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.

Review of applications begins Oct. 1, 2015.

Search committee members will be available for informal informational meetings at AEJMC’s conference in San Francisco in August.

To inquire or apply contact Professor Toni Locy, locyt@wlu.edu, 201 Reid Hall, Department of Journalism and Mass Communications, Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Virginia 24450.
