Wired seeks senior editor

July 29, 2014

Posted by Chris Roush

We are looking for a senior editor who can help us continue that tradition by bringing us surprising ideas, important news, and great writing.

This senior editor will be responsible for assigning, managing, and editing or writing 14-20 high-quality, long-form features per year, including covers. In addition to magazine work, this senior editor will help steer WIRED’s coverage across all platforms, including its conferences, WIRED.com and WIRED Video.

We are looking for a candidate with several years of long-form editing experience, and established relationships with a deep roster of feature writers. We’d prefer someone who has experience covering tech, but it’s more important to find someone with a demonstrated history of intelligence, curiosity, and creativity. Strong social media skills and TV promotion experience are definite plus points.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assign and edit or write a total of 15-20 feature stories per year.
  • Take an active role in shaping the voice of WIRED in both print and digital.
  • Conceive and create spin-offs from features, including sidebars, web-only content, photo galleries, etc.
  • Recruit and develop new writers
