atlantic-logo-grayThe Atlantic is seeking an experienced business editor to oversee our expanding business coverage. The ideal candidate will be relentlessly curious and news-minded, with a deep understanding of the forces driving the modern economy.

This person should have a track record of high-impact reporting and/or editing, and a sense of urgency and immediacy about covering Wall Street, banking, international business, as well as trends in commerce and employment. Experience covering Silicon Valley is a plus.

This editor will be responsible for building and leading a team that can break stories and nimbly respond to major news in a real-time information ecosystem.

The business editor will also be skilled at  scoping, assigning, and editing big ideas-based features; the kind of analytical work, and superior writing, that distinguishes The Atlantic across all coverage areas.

This position will be based in Washington, D.C. or New York City.

Across Atlantic Media, generally, the firm looks for two pillar gifts in its candidates. In all of us, these are more aspirational than actual, but they are central in our intentions.

  • Force of Intellect – Atlantic Media seeks a discipline and rigor of thought as manifested, often, in exceptional academic performance and, later, success in a professional environment.
  • Spirit of Generosity – Equally, Atlantic Media seeks what we term a spirit of generosity a natural disposition towards service and selfless conduct.\
