Sarasota daily seeks business of health reporter

June 26, 2014

The Sarasota Herald-Tribune is seeking an established team player with expertise to report on the business of health.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, a social-media maven, a digital content producer and a data/records nerd who loves storytelling and enterprise. (Yes, we want it all.) Sarasota and Manatee counties are growing, thanks to baby boomers who don’t want to deal with high taxes or another Polar Vortex. Our economy is driven by tourism, real estate and health care.

Readers have a significant interest in everything from the ACA to the latest technology. You’ll report on institutions and innovations. You’ll also hang with our investigative team on longer-range projects.

Here’s what you need to know about the Herald-Tribune and Sarasota, Fla.:

We’ve won a Pulitzer and been a finalist two other times. We have a talented, innovative staff. We’ve recently been named an APME Innovator of the Year Finalist because of our staff-empowered, big-picture thinking. We value enterprise and urgency. Journalism still matters here.

Oh, one other detail. The average low temperature is 52 degrees in January. (You’ll sweat a lot in August, but did we mention our sunsets and world-class beaches?)

If you’re good enough to be on our winning team, send a 200-word cover letter and link to your online resume to bill.church@heraldtribune.com. Or contact us via Twitter @BillChurchMedia.
