San Francisco biz paper seeks courts reporter

The Recorder seeks an experienced and creative reporter to cover cutting-edge legal issues in federal courts in San Francisco and Silicon Valley for our daily online/weekly print publication.

The job:

·         Write about big-money disputes involving the region’s major tech companies, privacy litigation, white collar prosecutions, economic espionage, and patent litigation.

·         Cover local federal enforcement agencies like the U.S. attorney’s office and the SEC.

·         Cover the local federal bench and the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals

·         Write for a demanding local and national audience made up of lawyers, judges, academics and policymakers.

·         Deliver a mix of scoops, daily news, print features and enterprise.

The ideal candidate:

·         Five or more years of experience in daily journalism

·         Experience with legal or business topics is helpful

·         Experience working a beat – with scoops to prove it

·         Adept at using Twitter, LinkedIn and other social channels to engage readers
