Screen Shot 2017-01-27 at 4.23.33 PMThe Rivard Report is seeking an experienced, full-time business reporter for our 5-year-old digital media hyperlocal.

The reporter will cover the city’s major corporations and employers, the growing technology and cybersecurity sector, an expanding startup scene, and economic development.

We are looking for a strong storyteller with a knack for profiling individuals making a mark on their industry, workforce, and the city. San Antonio is home to insurance giant USAA; H-E-B, one of the largest privately held grocery store chains in the nation; energy companies, including Valero, Tesoro, and NuStar Energy; financial services company Cullen/Frost Bankers; and Rackspace, the managed cloud-computing company.

The military is a major economic force, with four major bases and a military and civilian workforce that exceeds 70,000. The North American Free Trade Agreement was initialed by the three heads of state in San Antonio and the North American Development Bank, jointly funded by the U.S. and Mexico, is based here. The U.S.-Mexico border is only three hours away, and South Texas is home to the big Eagle Ford oil and gas shale play.

San Antonio’s urban core is the scene of robust commercial and residential redevelopment, while the outlying suburbs are spreading to make San Antonio one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. The population of 1.4 million is expected to grow to 2.5 million over the next 25 years.

Salary, health care benefits, 20 days vacation, and a YMCA family membership are included. Applicants should send a letter of interest, résumé and examples of published work to apply@rivardreport.com.
