Reuters seeks transportation editor in Detroit

September 23, 2014

Posted by Chris Roush

Reuters is seeking a dynamic and creative editor to oversee U.S. transportation coverage, a sector that not only is vital and interesting in its own right, but that intersects with virtually every other economic sector. We are hungry for agenda-setting coverage of automobiles, rail, aviation and aerospace, including industry leaders, regulators and innovators.

We are also looking for stories that bust out of their narrow lanes and offer insight into supply chains, workforce issues, and the rapidly changing energy dynamics.

The successful candidate will be a proven leader and experienced editor equally comfortable handling fast-breaking news and deep enterprise reporting. You think big and you sweat the small stuff. The job demands well-honed story-telling skills, sharp news judgment, and the ability to manage a team of reporters and also to work collaboratively with Reuters reporters and editors in manufacturing, energy, and other coverage areas.

Qualifications
– At least 10 years of editing experience, preferably at a major news organization, with a focus on one or more transportation industry
– Sophisticated knowledge of the regulatory apparatus as plus
