Reuters seeks telecom reporter in Milan bureau

November 20, 2015

Posted by Chris Roush

Reuters is looking for an experienced and versatile journalist to join our busy Milan bureau.

This is a very interesting time to write about Italian business, as the euro zone’s third biggest economy slowly re-awakens from a deep recessionary slumber. Italy Inc. is full of world-famous brands and larger-than-life characters who dominate the country’s storied industries of food, fashion and car making.

The corporate story is also one of small family-owned companies that fuel the country’s economy but are also a drag on Italy’s ability to compete globally. This paradox contains myriad tales for the curious and insightful reporter.

The successful candidate will be good at cultivating sources among business, government and financial officials in order to break news and produce deeply-reported stories that connect the dots of often-complex tales straddling corporate and general news.

He/she will be expected to cover the telecoms beat, but also needs to be adept across the file, writing fast and accurate copy under pressure as well as generating ideas for bigger business stories.

We need a strong team player who is willing to put in sometimes long and unpredictable hours and can work seamlessly with our Italian service and the Rome bureau.
