Reuters seeks special correspondent in Europe

November 3, 2015

Posted by Chris Roush

Reuters is seeking a special correspondent, Europe to conceive, report and write insightful, agenda-setting stories across the European political, economic and business file.

The successful candidate will work with news editors in the generation of original multi-media story ideas and work with reporters in European bureaus to help produce initiative pieces tied to breaking news and longer-form stories that differentiate us from the competition. She or he will also act as a fireman, reinforcing European bureaus when big stories break and be a point person for reporters in other regions for collaborative work on global stories.

The correspondent will promote the Reuters brand by appearing on TV, participating in conferences and playing an active role on social media. The position will probably be based in Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt or Brussels.

Required skills
– Extensive experience reporting in one or more major European countries
– Established contacts in European policy circles
– Track record of running and working on in-depth reporting projects
– Energetic self starter and innovative thinker who sees stories beneath the surface
– Knack for recruiting colleagues for collaborative reporting efforts
– Strong writing, editing, people and presentation skills
– European languages a plus
– Willingness to represent Reuters
