Thomson Reuters LPC, the world’s leading source of information on syndicated loans, is looking for an experienced, knowledgeable and motivated reporter to cover the US investment-grade loan market, which is home to some of the world’s biggest companies and multibillion dollar acquisition deals.

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will cover the $750 billion primary investment grade loan market for Loan Pricing Corp, Reuters newswire and IFR magazine, breaking news and writing analysis for all Thomson Reuters brands, including real-time services and publications.

The private nature of the investment-grade market, which finances highly-rated companies, means that well-connected journalists are able to break exclusive news on jumbo M&A deals and play a leading role in many of the biggest corporate finance, debt capital markets, banking and regulatory stories.

High profile stories include a record $61 billion bridge loan backing Verizon’s acquisition of a 45 percent stake in Verizon Wireless from Vodafone and the $25 billion buyout of computer maker Dell.

We are looking for a flexible reporter with strong people and communication skills who is comfortable talking to senior bankers in the loan market and will be able to work independently to develop strong relationships with IFR and Reuters colleagues and liase across teams on crossover stories.

Key Responsibilities:
– Proactive approach to generating content written for expert and non-expert clients.
– Ensuring a daily flow of information on new deals, pricing, terms, allocations and themes, is covered in an efficiently and timely fashion across the products.
– Breaking news on LPC and IFR’s real time services and Reuters wire.
– Exercising sound news judgment on what moves markets and why.
– Establishing and maintaining close contact with US-based and foreign banks.
– Contributing to LPC, IFR and the Reuters wire news and product sections.
