Reuters seeks reporter to cover Amazon.com

September 6, 2016

Posted by Chris Roush

Reuters LogoReuters News is seeking an experienced business journalist to cover Amazon.com and the exploding universe of online retail and consumer services.

Amazon by almost any measure is widening its lead as the kingpin of online retail, even as it moves into adjacent services like streaming music and video and completely new businesses like cloud computing. But it faces intense competition and rapid change in all its key businesses, and in areas such as payment solutions, logistics networks and media it’s going head-to-head with a host of powerful players.

The correspondent in this role will be responsible for breaking news and initiative stories about Amazon itself, and also for reporting more broadly on the competitive dynamics and new initiatives in e-commerce and consumer Web services as a whole. There will also be opportunities to cover other aspects of the technology business and to collaborate with colleagues in the San Francisco bureau and around the world.

The ideal candidate will be an aggressive reporter with substantial business journalism experience. The ability to write quickly and accurately under deadline pressure is essential, as is the ability to develop the sources and contacts that are critical for big stories.

Familiarity with contemporary social media and multimedia tools, and the ability to work well with others in a highly collaborative environment, are also required.
