Reuters seeks Midwest editor

Reuters seeks a dynamic journalist for the position of Editor in Charge, U.S. General News, Midwest for its expanding general news file in the United States.

The successful candidate will be a proven reporter and editor with a strong instinct for what makes a national story, including how to spot a local story that can rise to one of national interest. Excellent writing and editing skills are a must. Experience covering a wide range of news is also vital.

The Editor in Charge will oversee the daily production of spot news and features from across the U.S. Midwest, stretching from Michigan to Texas, ensuring a sufficient supply of content for Reuters’ growing U.S. general news offering.

The Editor in Charge will direct a team of reporters and regional stringers throughout the U.S. Midwest in covering local and regional stories of national interest, ensuring fast, insightful coverage of spot news and original enterprise reporting. The EIC will be responsible for day-to-day management of staff, coordination with photos and television and will work closely with both the General News Editor and other regional Editors in Charge.

Qualifications
– At least 10 years as a journalist in a wire service or newspaper environment, ideally in a position as a senior correspondent or editor
