Reuters seeks insurance and fund management reporter in London

May 15, 2014

Posted by Chris Roush

Reuters is looking for a strong reporter and writer with a passion for breaking news and an ability to write agenda-setting stories to join our funds team in London, primarily covering the UK insurance market.

It’s a multi-faceted, global industry and UK-based insurers are some of the world’s biggest investors. In Britain, the industry has never before played such a crucial role as Downing Street seeks insurer cash to build roads, bridges, hospitals and schools, and as a raft of new regulation – particularly around pensions – changes the way the companies are run and the way they invest.

As well as tracking the industry’s response to the growing threat of cyber crime, the successful candidate will also have a part to play in covering all the big natural disaster stories. He or she will be expected to make deep contacts within the mysterious and clubby Lloyds of London insurance market, tapping sources for insight on issues as diverse as piracy in the Malacca Straits and the impact of floods in the west of England.

As large insurers increasingly resemble asset managers, the correspondent will also be expected to break news on investment mandates, hiring and M&A, as well as providing investor reaction to the biggest stories of the day. Where necessary, this reporter will also cover any and all aspects of the mutual fund, pension fund and hedge fund beats.
