Reuters-LogoReuters is looking for a Global Technology Editor to lead our coverage of the technology revolution, which has sweeping implications that transcend the activities of technology and Internet companies themselves.

From health care and hospitality, to media and manufacturing, to finance and education, technology is transforming and disrupting the way we work, live and play.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned journalist who can lead, report, write, edit and collaborate with editors and reporters around the world to produce a series of agenda-setting stories.

We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of technology who can help frame distinctive stories on the challenges and opportunities faced by companies, industries and their suppliers as they contend with automation, apps, and other rapid technological advancements.

As for the big Internet and social media companies, how governments around the world regulate these entities, how the companies respond to market shifts, and how people around the world adopt these new offerings is a set of running stories that’s already having an immense impact on the cultural, economic and political landscape of nearly every country in the world. Cybersecurity coverage is another key part of the role, and we expect the global technology editor to put Reuters ahead of competitors in this area.

The Global Technology Editor will lead Reuters’ drive to identify technology trends and turn them into exclusive and insightful stories, liaising with senior editors to mobilize Reuters’ global reporting resources from Silicon Valley to Brussels to get those stories out to our clients.

The successful candidate will also be expected to report and write stories under his/her own byline. The role requires a proven leader and experienced editor, well-honed story-telling skills, sharp news judgment, the ability to work collaboratively and attain the highest journalistic standards.

The job is based in New York City or Washington, DC.
