Reuters seeks finance reporter in New York

Reuters is seeking a reporter for its finance team in New York.

Qualifications:
– Identify news-worthy events and trends ahead of the competition.
– Use existing company and investor contacts to break key stories about New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq, Toronto Stock Exchange, and other major exchanges in the Americas.
– Use existing financial contacts to break news about mergers and acquisitions among exchanges in the Americas.
– Report on complex financial earnings of publicly listed exchanges and trading companies,with little help from editors.
– As part of the finance team, report on deals and regulatory investigations involving financial companies in the Americas.
– Publish accurate, market-moving news alerts faster than the competition, including from live speeches of key executives, and meet news wire deadlines for writing copy.
– Use financial databases, regulatory filings and other sources of information to produce original, revelatory stories, including internal data and from external sources such as Edgar and Pacer.
– Report on how political and social developments will affect the regulation of the equity markets, including an understanding of the workings of Washington and lobbying around specific issues such as equity and derivatives trading.
– Contribute to the production of financial graphics and multimedia content.
– Appear on TV at Reuters and take part in outside panel discussions to talk about major trading and market structure stories, including news we break.
– Stay abreast of, and report on, all major regulatory decisions related to how the equity and derivatives markets are structured, including from the SEC, CFTC, FINRA, IOSCO, and other regulatory bodies.
– Generate ideas for investigative stories and longer form enterprising pieces that tackle issues relevant to exchanges, private trading venues, and market structure in depth.
