Reuters seeks e-commerce reporter in San Francisco

Reuters is seeking a top-notch reporter in San Francisco to lead its coverage of e-commerce.

The battle between online and bricks-and-mortar companies is reaching a new pitch. As Amazon makes massive investments in delivery systems, stores are cutting prices, learning how to use the Web and gathering more information about customers.

The beat goes far beyond that clash, to include themes such as electronic payments, as new players like Apple roll out ways to pay, and cyber security.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be expected to build sources, break news and deliver exclusives and insights across the e-commerce sector and its impact on how people live.

The reporter on this beat must be able to do deep dive stories, as well as respond instantly to breaking news and quickly develop a plan for driving the story to deliver distinguished coverage. Applicants should have a record of successful collaboration with colleagues.

While a technology journalism background is preferred, a track record of ground breaking and enterprising stories is a must.
