Reuters seeks deputy bureau chief in DC

Reuters is looking for an exceptional editor to be its deputy bureau chief in Washington, DC.

The successful candidate will lead one of the large Washington teams, according to the deputy’s area of expertise, and will run the bureau in the bureau chief’s absence. He or she should be the consummate Washington insider with a deep understanding of the way things work inside the beltway.

The deputy bureau chief will need great news judgment, strong editing skills and a track record of leading teams to dominance on stories that matter. Above all, the deputy will be an inspirational leader of people, able to spur reporters to individual brilliance and forge the strong bonds essential for a high performing team.

Qualifications
– At least 10 years’ experience in journalism, much of that in Washington
– Track record of leading large teams in Washington
– Deep expertise in a key area of Washington coverage such as politics, foreign policy, financial regulation or economic policy
– Experience in business journalism and real-time news an advantage.

Applicants should be U.S.-based as the job is offered on local terms with minimal relocation assistance.
